AIM: The aim of the current investigation was to evaluate the marginal microleakage of various esthetic restorative materials applied to primary teeth. MATERIALS AND METHODS: A total of 75 noncarious primary molars that were removed for orthodontic intervention and teeth nearing exfoliation were chosen. One millimeter (mm) above the cementoenamel junction, on the buccal surface of the teeth, Class V cavities were prepared. William's graded periodontal probe was used to standardize cavity preparation on all teeth. 3 mm was the cavity's length, 2 mm in width, and 2 mm in depth. The teeth were then divided into three groups (25 samples in each group) according to the type of esthetic restorative material used. Group I: Resin-modified glass ionomer cement, Group II: Ormocer, Group III: Giomer. The samples underwent 500 cycles of thermocycling, with an immersion time of 60 seconds and a well time of 15 seconds, between 5 and 55°C. The samples were submerged in methylene blue dye for 24 hours at room temperature and dried. The samples were then divided into sections and examined with a stereomicroscope. Data was recorded and statistically analyzed. RESULTS: The least marginal microleakage was found in the ormocer group (1.22 ± 0.01) followed by resin-modified glass ionomer cement group (1.31 ± 0.07) and the giomer group (1.78 ± 0.03). There was a highly statistically significant difference found between resin-modified glass ionomer cement group and the ormocer group, resin-modified glass ionomer cement group and giomer group. And no significant difference was found between the ormocer group and the giomer group. CONCLUSION: The present study concluded that there was some amount of microleakage in primary teeth in all restorative materials examined in this in-vitro investigation. However, the marginal sealing ability of ormocer was found highest compared to resin-modified glass ionomer cement and Giomer materials. CLINICAL SIGNIFICANCE: The primary reason dental restorations fail, particularly in Class V cavities, is microleakage since the margins of these restorations are typically found in the dentin or cementum. Assessing microleakage is a crucial step in determining the marginal integrity of restorative materials. Developing methods and resources that reduce the adverse effects caused by the restorative marginal seal failing would benefit from this. How to cite this article: Al Ghwainem A, Alqarni AS. Aim: The current research had an aim to evaluate the shear bond strength of two different pit and fissure sealants in deciduous teeth. Materials and Methods: Forty deciduous teeth were part of this research. Inclusion criteria were teeth having an unbroken occlusal surface, whereas samples having developmental defects/afflicted with caries were subjected to exclusion from this research. Each specimen tooth was assigned at random to one of the two groups constituting 20 specimens each by means of a computer-generated randomization with two alphabets (A, B). Group 1: Conventional sealant, Group 2: Self-adhering flowable sealant. Following sealant coating, a shear load was placed via a universal testing apparatus in a manner parallel to the bonded edge at a speed of 0.5 millimeter/minute till the occurrence of a breakdown. Bond strength was subsequently measured in Mega Pascals (MPa). Results: 13.86 ± 0.23 was the mean shear bond strength of self-adhering flowable sealant versus 11.48 ± 0.52 Mpa of conventional sealants. Statistically significant differences amid both groups were noted. Conclusion: The current research arrived at a conclusion that self-adhering flowable sealants exhibited superior shear bond strength in comparison to conventional sealants.

Aim: The aim of the current research was to assess the effectiveness of different remineralizing substances on artificial white spot lesions on deciduous teeth. Materials and Methods: 45 deciduous teeth without dental caries constituted the study group for this in vitro research. A 3 mm by 3 mm window of enamel was uncovered at the occluso-gingival midpoint of the coronal labial surface; an acid-resistant nail varnish was coated alongside the uncovered enamel surface of all specimens, employing vertical strokes. Demineralization was executed for the tenure of 72 hours at 37°C temperature in an incubator. The forty-five specimens, fifteen in each group, were assigned to the investigational groups plus a control group as: Group A: Control, Group B: Calcium sucrose phosphate (CaSP), Group C: Casein phosphopeptide-amorphous calcium phosphate-fluoride (CPP-ACPF). Microhardness tester was employed for testing the microhardness of the enamel surface using a Vickers diamond indenter laden with twenty-five milligrams for approximately ten seconds. Vickers hardness number (VHN) calculations for the microhardness were performed at baseline and on the fourteenth day. Results: The CPP-ACPF group exhibited greater mean microhardness value at 236.14 ± 2.12, in pursuit by CaSP group with a score of 231.98 ± 3.16 and then the control group at 220.22 ± 5.08. An extremely statistically significant difference was seen amid the groups. Conclusion: The current research arrived at a conclusion that both the remineralizing substances were certainly efficient in handling early dental caries, and additionally, casein phosphopeptide-amorphous calcium phosphate-fluoride (CPP-ACPF) was found highly efficient as a remineralizing substance, in pursuit by calcium sucrose phosphate (CaSP).

This study aimed to evaluate the knowledge and attitudes of the parents of autistic children toward oral health and the practice of oral hygiene habits. A questionnaire was constructed, validated, and distributed to the parents of autistic children at different autistic centers. The questionnaire was divided into three parts: demographic information on the parents of autistic children, the knowledge and attitudes of parents toward oral health, and the practice of oral hygiene habits in the current population. A total of 206 responses were collected. Irrespective of the parents' educational and employment statuses, most second children were diagnosed with autism, and most of the parents have four or more children. In terms of knowledge and attitudes toward oral health, a total of 90.30% of the patients were aware of the oral healthcare of their child, and 55.80% of parents take them to the dentist for checkups. Moreover, the response to the practice of oral hygiene habits from the parents was positive, and most of the parents assist in the oral hygiene practices of their autistic children. This study showed that most of the parents appeared to have satisfactory knowledge about oral health practices for autistic children. However, additional studies should also be conducted.
